Our Operation
Our field grown trees are harvested in early spring when they are still dormant. Each tree is placed into a wire basket with a burlap sack to contain the roots. These ‘ball and burlap’ trees are ready to be transplanted into a new landscape. Trees that are not transplanted in spring are moved into our holding facility where they are available for purchase and transplanting throughout the summer and fall. Since we are growing the trees locally, availability will vary from time to time.
If you would like to select a specific tree for purchase in early spring for transplanting later in the season we can harvest and hold that tree for you in our holding facility for an additional fee.
Our potted production consists of trees that are planted and grown in containers that are roughly 20”x20” and 20” deep. These trees are similar in size to our field grown trees but they are more convenient to handle and they are available for purchase and transplanting from spring through fall.
Consistent with industry standards, our deciduous trees are priced by the diameter of the tree measured 12” above the ground. This is the ‘calliper’ of the tree and typically our trees are between 2 – 4” calliper and 8 to 14 feet tall, depending on the species. Evergreen trees are sold by height, starting at 4 feet up to 12 feet for most species. At times, lower grades may be available at discounted prices.
